A4 is 210 × 297 mm. Letter is 215.9 × 279.4 mm: slightly wider and shorter. A layout made for A4 can clip or shrink when printed on Letter. Pick the paper actually loaded in your printer before exporting. The same photo can stay at its exact size on either format, but the number of copies and empty space may change.
Before you download
Check the tray and printer properties as well as the PDF. Renaming Letter to A4 in a dialog does not change the loaded sheet. Use the landscape option when a wide photo needs more horizontal room. A3 is 297 × 420 mm and gives more room while retaining the same photo dimensions.
Print settings that preserve size
Choose Actual size or 100% in your PDF viewer. Match the PDF paper size and measure the 20 mm square after printing.
